“We’re leaving now,” a young man, no more than fourteen years old, shouted from the back of a large house.
“Come back alive,” remarked a voice from inside. He rolled his eyes and began to depart from the large house with another young man who appeared at the most sixteen. Both walked side by side into the forest as dawn entered their world. Their overcoats faded in the light, making them disappear in the shadows of the forest. The house they had left soon disappeared behind all the trees as they disappeared themselves.
“Where are we going this time?” asked the fourteen year old boy to the young man next to him.
“We’re going to see some guy named Richard Stuart,” he answered, his voice deep toned and emotionless. He nodded and understood as dawn’s light began to slowly fade and the darkness of the night in gulped the forest they were in. A few hours passed before they came to a hut, surrounded by the forest they had walked in. two men stood watch in front of it as they turned to look at them both.
“Are you two the ones Mr. Stuart sent for?” one of the guards asked.
“Indeed we are,” answered the fourteen year old. “So if we could just see him we’ll be glad to do the job and be on our way.” The guard nodded and opened the door to the hut, leading them inside as they followed. The second guard went in behind them and closed the door behind.
“Welcome,” greeted a short man who stayed seated near the fire inside the hut. He faced away from them as he rocked in his chair. Both young men kneeled down behind him, waiting for him to tell them their mission. “I will go straight to why I called you both. I want you to kill the king of the kingdom that id south of this hut. I also wish for you two to steal quite a precious gem they hold in their value.”
“As for our payment?” the boy asked.
“I will pay you twenty thousand,” he answered him.
“This this is a done deal and please meet us in a clearing that is a little ways away from this hut,” he instructed them, rising to his feet as the young man did the same. They began to leave the hut as the second bodyguard opened the door to them. Leaving the hut they began to make their way south of it and towards the castle they had been told to go to. “Twenty grand to kill a guy and steal a gem,” he repeated.
“You’d think we’d be retired by now,” he stated, “like that idiot Maru.”
He shrugged. “Let’s just do this and be done with it already. We have another mission tonight.”
“I swear clients are annoying as hell,” he said, crossing his arms.
“What do you expect?” he inquired. “Besides, we’re the best of the best! Who better to hire than Eliminators as ourselves.” He groaned and merely looked forward without saying a word. “You have to learn to lighten up.”
“Shut up,” he told him.
Yoshio Kizu and Siren; Eliminators for Hire
They stood watch outside the castle, no one noticing that they were there just waiting to attack. A very young man stood up from the tree branch he had been sitting on for the last hour, waiting for the right time to go in. “Are you ready?” he asked, his voice directing to the other young man on the other side of the tree.
“Yeah,” he answered in reply, a smirk growing over his lips. Both disappeared as the branch of the tree shook, letting leaves fall down. They made their ways to the castle, passing the guards and if they needed to they would kill them. So far they had not been sighted and there was no need to kill anyone, so they continued to enter the castle, passing the guards.
Once inside the walls of the castle they set out to what they had been ordered to do. “Siren, go to the treasure room and steal what was demanded of us,” said the young man, his red eyes illuminating from the glow of the torches.
“Then that leaves you to disposing the king, Yoshio,” responded the other young man, his green eyes anxious to go already. Yoshio nodded as they both separated through the castle. Siren passed door after door but he did not stop to check them. He knew what each door held behind it and none of them interested him. Making it to the end of a hall he opened the last door as he grabbed a torch. Throwing it inside the flames shined over the gold, making them shine dully. He smirked once more. “Task one, completed.”
In the king’s quarter’s Yoshio had slit the king’s throat, leaving his blood to spill on the bed. Sheathing his katana he headed out of the room and back towards the entrance. Meeting Siren along the hall carrying a bag, he only suspected it carried within it the gem. As they ran down the hall Siren couldn’t help but want to ask how he killed the king. “Slit his throat. Quick and easy,” Yoshio answered him.
Siren laughed a bit. “Quick and easy indeed. Considering he’ll be bleeding where you left him.” Yoshio agreed.
As came to the front entrance of the castle they could see guard coming their way. They both smirked as Siren threw the bag high into the air, a large falcon grabbing the bag. As the guard looked at the falcon take the bag Siren jumped into the air, unsheathing his blade in midair as he spun around once before bringing the blade down harshly on one of the guards. Blood gushed from the wound as he pulled it out quickly and thrust it into another of the guards.
Yoshio had gone to the side, quickly unsheathing his katana as he dodged the blades of the guards and pierced through their armor with one gash of his blade. Blood began to quickly cover the ground as the only two people standing were Siren and Yoshio who held their bloodstained swords in hand. Their eyes glared at the castle as they made their way out of it.
Entering the forest they both stopped in a small clearing, a small stream in the middle. “Call Talon,” Yoshio ordered. Siren nodded as he placed his thumb and index finger in his mouth, whistling sharply. In less than a minute the falcon that had taken the bad returned, the bag held in the claws of his feet. Smoothly the large falcon flew to Siren and landed on his arm as it released the bag to him
Siren petted him. “Good job Talon.” Talon gave a small shriek. Siren then turned his attention to Yoshio who was cleaning his sword using the stream’s water.
“No matter how many times you wash a blade you can never get the smell of blood off, now can you?” Yoshio asked as he wiped the water off with a rag.
Siren walked over to him, Talon still perched on his arm. “I suppose not, but does it matter?”
Yoshio watched as the blood from his blade ran down the stream. He then smirked and turned around to face him as he sheathed his blade. “Not one bit,” he answered, placing the katana completely in its sheath. Siren chuckled as they made their way to the area in which their client would be waiting. They let Talon fly ahead incase they were planning to go back on the deal, considering he wasn’t there when the deal was set and made.
As Talon flew overhead he could see a short, thin man with a cane in hand waiting for them. Two large men at his side who were most likely his bodyguards. Coming into view from the darkness of the forest they could see Siren and Yoshio. Siren held the bag in hand, his other hand on the hilt of his sword. Yoshio had his hand on the hilt of his sword too. They stopped five feet away from them. “Do you have the gem?” the short man asked them, no patience in his voice.
“That truly all depends on whether you have our money or not,” Siren replied.
“Of course I have the money,” he shouted to him.
“There’s no need to shout my good man, we have the gem,” he said. A smirk spread across his lips as his eyes became unreadable. “But just because we do doesn’t mean we’re about to give it to you.”
He took a step back, the look in Siren’s eyes shaking his fears a bit. “Here, I have the money.” He took the briefcase from the guard on his right and threw it to them. Yoshio caught it in midair as he set it down on the ground and opened it, seeing that all the money was there. He nodded at Siren who then turned his attention back to the man and his guards.
“Very good then,” he said, throwing the bad at him as he quickly caught it. Opening the back he took out the large gem as it shined under the shine of the moon. Taking the briefcase in hand they began to leave. “Goodbye, Mr. Stuart,” Siren said as they disappeared into the darkness, Talon flying just overhead of them.
Siren and Yoshio walked in silence, letting the sounds of the forest be their voices as they returned to a place they called home. “Siren, how long do you plan on doing this?” Yoshio asked.
Siren looked over at him from the corner of his eyes. “What? Be an Eliminator for hire?” He nodded. Siren looked up at Talon. “I’m not sure. I mean, I have responsibilities to take care of and this job helps in a way.”
“What about your little brother?” Yoshio asked. “You have responsibilities to be his older brother and be there while he’s growing up.”
He looked back down to the grass ground, his eyes a bit sad but a smile on his face. “I know that, trust me I do. But Kale will be alright and besides, I do spend time with him when we‘re not out.”
“And if you end up dieing when we’re out?” Yoshio asked.
His smile faded as he frowned a bit. “I won’t die. I’ll stay alive for him, no matter the cost. But if I don’t, then either you, Kakamaru, or one of the other people we know will take care of him. At least, I hope one of you will.”
“Of course we will,” Yoshio reassured him, gaining a smile from Siren. “Besides, what kind of Eliminators for Hire would we be if we died.” Siren laughed and agreed with him.
From atop Talon gave a shriek, initializing that they were close. From a distance they could both see a large home. “And that would be Kakamaru’s place coming into view,” Siren said as he continued to smile. Yoshio, for some reason, couldn’t help but smile either as they neared it. From the distance they could see a person sitting outside, waiting.
